Aruna Biography
British actor Aruna Shields, of Anglo Indian decent, begun her primary education at a convent school before achieving an academic scholarship to study at a UK boarding school. She later gained a distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Aruna also obtained a degree from Central St Martins, London. Aruna was first spotted and signed by an acting agent while at a theatrical workshop in England.
Her earlier work includes touring in theatre for over a year. Writing and performing the difficult Geordie role of Tracy for short film Violent Lesson shot by the BBC. The lead role of Neera in the art-house film Mr. Singh/Mrs. Mehta, a quirky film about a young girl dealing with infidelity (post production) Experimental shorts including underwater film Live Bait shot at Pinewood studios and Mission Improbable (2007) (V) Aruna was also cast in the lead role of Saira, an innocent girl with a naughty side in the comedy, Private Moments (2005) also a dream girl in Ali G Indahouse (2002).
She is in two challenging leading roles out in cinemas 2010: the gritty lead role in feature film, Ao, le dernier Néandertal (2010), An adventure based 30,000 years ago in a lost savage world. Shields impressed casting director Des Hamilton during rigorous workshops for the difficult part. In the action thriller Prince out in cinemas March 2010, she is tough espionage agent Maya who performs all her own stunts including bike bungee jumps and free falls.
